Set sheet: the operational layer behind a reliable set
A useful set sheet records sequence, versions, cue notes and contingencies so performance does not depend on memory.
Diagnosis
- Use exact file and version names.
- Mark transitions that need manual attention.
- Flag fallback tracks or alternate routes.
Decision
- Freeze a performance copy before the show.
- Keep notes short enough to read under pressure.
- Update the canonical list after rehearsal changes.
Measurement boundary
Operational notes should reduce decisions during performance, not create another interface to manage.
Common failure: A beautiful set list with ambiguous filenames is still operationally weak.
